In the year 2000, a group of organic farmers who wanted to work together to improve their lives, incorporated Quality Organic Producer Cooperative (QOPC). Many of them also wanted to make their farms attractive to coming generations of their family. This tradition is alive in QOPC. The price and complexity of machinery have both increased rapidly, squeezing the net income of many farmers, who simply do not have enough acres to justify the expense of owning all the machines that would improve their net income A Zapper has both a very high first cost and, much potential to increase yield. By working together through QOPC, it is possible to go over enough acres for QOPC to pay for the Zapper and help farmers who, individually, only pay a small part of the cost of owning the machine. All farmers face this financial challenge, so we collaborate with all farmers, organic or not. QOPC is helping to keep farmers and their families on the land and in their communities.
