  • About Us Brian E. Buckmeier graduated from the University of South Dakota Law School in May of 1987. He became licensed to practice state law in Iowa and Nebraska in 1988. Brian is licensed before the Federal District Court in Nebraska and the Northern District of Iowa to handle federal court cases. \ u200B Brian has been practicing law for 28 years in Sioux City and the surrounding area. He started his practice as a prosecuting attorney for 4 years with the Woodbury County Attorneys Office and handled all levels of cases from simple misdemeanors to murder cases. Brian has completed a large number of hearings, trials and jury trials in all areas of the law. Brian has been in private practice for the past 24 years. Brian is assisted in his practice by Chris Morgan, who is a certified paralegal. His areas of practice are Personal Injury, Workers Compensation, Criminal Law Defensemisdemeanors and major felonies, OWI/DUI Defense, Juvenile Delinquency Defense, Family Law (including child custody, divorce, contempt proceedings, CHINA proceedings and paternity matters), Wills, and Civil Litigation. Brian has been actively involved in the Sioux City Community since moving here in 1987. Brian served on the Catholic School Advisory Board and was a former president. He served on the St. Michael's Church of Sioux City Advisory Board. He also served as President and member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. He was a member of the Noon Optimist Club of Sioux City. He was a member of the Opportunities Unlimited Board and was also on the Junior Achievement Board. He completed Leadership Sioux City in 1992. Brian is married to Frances and has two boys, Carter and Adam. Brian's interesting hobby includes hunting for fossils and dinosaur bones in South Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming. Brian found a new--species of dinosaur called Dracorex and with his friends donated the dinosaur to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis in 2003. Brian and his friends are frequent lecturers at local schools and colleges regarding their pursuits.
