About Us

  • The Hornet's Nest was originally named for the gathering place of locals and passersby that was annually invaded by you guessed it, a hive of hornets. First built in the mid 1800s, the tavern, hotel and dance hall was a favorite stop on the trip south from Chicago. As a stage coach station, many a colorful character stopped by to enjoy the local Earle hospitality. After a fire destroyed the building in 1926, the present building was constructed by Oscar Sanders. He operated the tavern and added the dining room so that Mrs. Sanders could entertain her friends from Evansville. The community of Earle provides a place for many quests to venture north from town to enjoy a unique dining experience. The current proprietors hope that you will relax and take step back in time to enjoy some of the finest dining in the Evansville area. Unwind in our casual atmosphere. We hope that you enjoy your visit and come back often.
