About Us

  • About Us I have been an Audiologist for over 20 years, and received my Master’s Degree in Audiology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. I am a member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and the Illinois Academy of Audiology, and hold State Licensure. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, from completing newborn hearing screenings, to assessing the communication needs of the older adult. I feel that patient education regarding hearing, hearing loss, and ways to improve hearing is essential to helping the patient and family members. I am also involved in industrial hearing conservation, providing annual hearing screenings, fittings of hearing aids, employee training and custom fit hearing protection for individuals who work in noisy areas. I formed Streator Hearing Care in Streator, Illinois to provide quality audiology services to adults and children. I became interested in working with people with hearing impairment because I thought that not being able to communicate with others due to a hearing loss would be such a difficult thing to live with. I enjoy listening to individuals and learning what his or her specific hearing problems are, then working together to provide improvement in hearing and communication. If a person is a candidate for hearing aids, various styles and options are discussed and demonstrated. Although hearing aids may never be as good as our own hearing, the technology is extremely advanced and constantly improving. Hearing aids can provide significant benefit, yet are very simple to use. I work with a variety of leading hearing aid manufacturers to offer the best solutions for each person’s needs, based on hearing loss, lifestyle, and budget. Hearing aids are fit on a 30-day trial basis, and generally minor fine-tuning is done during the first month. If at the end of the trial, the hearing aids are not acceptable for any reason, they can be returned and a different style or manufacturer can be ordered. I encourage people to wear the hearing aids as much as possible to adjust to them and become comfortable with them. The more a person wears the aids, the better they do. I run to keep up with my two sons Isaac and Maqualin, and also enjoy running, swimming, biking and walking with Cooper the dog. I’m a member of the Haiti Mission Team and have made several medical mission trips to Haiti, and hope to return to Haiti often. I feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful family and friends.
