• About the Company
  Siemens & Associates is a Central Oregon based consulting firm providing geotechnical engineering, geophysical services, quality control during construction, and laboratory material testing services throughout western states since 1992. Mr. Siemens is a registered Civil Engineer with geotechnical specialty certification in the state of Oregon. Siemens & Associates offers an effective balance of experience and dedication to provide sound, economical solutions to the geotechnical challenges that face our clients.

  Company owned geophysical exploration equipment is state of the art and provides one of the most effective ways to evaluate the supporting geology, the influence of civil structures, and environmental conditions including the influence of cultural features such as landfills and groundwater contamination. Although Siemens & Associates is a small, local company, few firms nationwide can boast similar geophysical expertise in the geotechnical industry. The company owns and operates a soil mechanics and construction materials testing laboratory and in-house drilling and sampling equipment. Through years of practice, Mr. Siemens has honed innovative exploration techniques that rise to the challenge of properly defining the subsurface attributes that are important to effective site characterization for a variety of purposes.
  
  Siemens & Associates specializes in providing geophysical support for geotechnical and environmental consultants with project experience throughout the western United States.
  
  Common Applications
  
• IBC seismic site classification - allows recommendations for the correct design criteria and eliminates guesswork.
  
• Geotechnical Exploration - generate 2D profiles using seismic and/or electrical methods to visualize the variation in geology and groundwater. The data are useful to site effective exploration drill holes and plan for subsurface construction without "surprises."
  
• Environmental Exploration - determine the thickness and extent of old landfills, track contamination plumes, and define successful locations for monitoring wells based on an improved understanding of subsurface conditions visualized in 2D.
  
• Aggregate Resource Exploration - Determine the 2D variation and character of overburden over long traverses without interpolation between borings or test pits. Evaluate rock properties including excavation difficulty, soundness, and continuity based on seismic wave speeds (P-wave and S-wave).
  
• Explore Geologic Anomaly - Define the location and offset of faulted geology without trenching, locate air-filled voids (mine shafts, lava tubes, sinkholes, etc.), and present the findings in 2D for effective presentation to clients and regulatory agencies.
  
  Siemens & Associates has developed strong associations with consultants, municipalities, and regulatory agencies throughout the west. Our primary focus is working to bridge the gap between the geotechnical/environmental engineering community and the exploration geophysicist by providing value geophysical services to these consultants.
