• About Roger C. Sohn, MD Board-certified orthopedic surgeon Roger Sohn Jr., MD, specializes in upper extremity disorders, with a focus on diagnosing and treating shoulder conditions. He welcomes patients of all ages at his private practice, Roger C. Sohn, MD, with locations in San Juan Capistrano and Fountain Valley, California. Dr. Sohn graduated with honors from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in West Carson, California, he went on to complete two fellowships. During his first fellowship at the University of California, Davis, Dr. Sohn received advanced training in upper extremity disorders such as hand, elbow, and shoulder arthritis. His second fellowship at Lake Tahoe Orthopedic Institute in Incline Village, Nevada, focused on minimally invasive surgeries, including shoulder arthroscopy. Before opening his practice, Dr. Sohn was a complex shoulder and elbow specialist at Kaiser Permanente in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Sohn believes in talking with patients, teaching them about their condition, and explaining their non-surgical and surgical treatment options. His goal is to minimize the impact of their conditions and restore their active lifestyle. While some patients eventually need surgery, many find that conservative care cures the problem.
