About Us

  • About Rachel “I always knew I wanted to be in the medical world,” says Rachel M. Kratzer, nurse practitioner. Her aunt was influential in this career goal. “My aunt was the manager of cardiothoracic at Elkhart General Hospital for many years,” Rachel says. “I watched her excel in the nursing field and develop into an excellent manager.” This inspired Rachel, who earned her master’s degree in nursing at Goshen College. There, she learned an important lesson. “You will always be evolving and growing as a provider.” In urgent care, Rachel is pushed to evolve and grow quickly for her patients. “I love the pace and never knowing what is coming through the doors,” Rachel says. “I get to help sick and hurt people feel better.” This work has shaped her practice philosophy: “Do what you know is right.” In addition to clinical excellence, Rachel brings personality and compassion to her practice. “It’s OK to tell patients a little about yourself and be a person – a mom, wife, sister, etc. – when caring for them,” Rachel explains. And she gives this kindness and connection to each patient. “I treat everyone the same, no matter who you are!” In Her Own Words Who is or was the most influential person/role model in your life?  Jesus. What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it?  Lifeguard/swim teacher. Best job ever! What are your hobbies, interests?  I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughters. Some of my hobbies are running, working out, cooking and sleeping! If you could sit down to dinner with anyone, alive or deceased, who would it be and why?  Jesus. I have lots of “why” questions to ask. What is something most people don’t know about you?  Once, I accidentally took a squirrel to the ER in my jacket!
