About Us

  • About Us I am a criminal defense lawyer based in Nashville. I have won jury trials in state and federal court. I have a wide range of experience and have tried many cases from simple assault to first degree murder. I work primarily in Nashville and the surrounding counties. I graduated Vanderbilt University and attended the Nashville School of Law. From 1993 to 2014 I worked for my father, Dale Quillen. Before that I was a gaffer (lighting guy) on music videos and commercials and a few TV movies. It was not exactly glamorous. I remember slogging four-aught welding cable through the mud and being underneath trucks busting my knuckles on alternators. Sometimes being a lawyer is not much different. There is a lot of poking through documents, turning over rocks, anything to find any weakness in the Government’s case. Cash, Check or Payment Plan: Good lawyers are expensive. I am no exception. I take cash, checks and Paypal. Often, I am asked to take payments – to set up a payment plan. First, I consider the proposed down payment. Signing on as the “attorney of record” is a serious commitment and judges are reluctant to let lawyers off cases even if they are not getting paid. That commitment must be mutual. Next, I consider the client’s employment history and their other financial obligations. Usually, I require the client to sign a promissory note just like they would if they were buying a car. Clients may need a co-signer, someone with the good job or assets to justify extending credit. I always advise people not to co-sign unless they are ready and willing to make good on the note.
