The training of a Family Physician includes six broad areas of medicine:

  • Internal medicine
  • Pediatrics
  • Surgery
  • Obstetrics and gynecology
  • Psychiatry
  • Community medicine

Normal appointment hours are 9:00am to noon and 1:30 to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Visits are by appointment. Saturday hours are available by appointment and staffed by the provider on call. Emergencies are accepted and less urgent problems will be worked in to our scheduled appointments as soon as possible. If you are unable to keep your appointment, we will be happy to reschedule you. We do ask that you notify us as early as possible (24 hours notice preferred) so we can offer your time to another patient.

New patients should arrive 15 minutes prior to their appointment time to fill out patient information and medical data forms. Please bring your insurance cards with you. We will be making a copy for your file. Immunization records for children should also be copied for the file.

There will be times when emergencies at the hospital will interrupt the doctor's office hours. This can result in delays or possible rescheduling of your visit. We will try to contact you as early as possible to notify you of any changes in your appointment time should they occur.

Our phones are answered by office personnel from 8:00 am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. The clinical staff is available to triage your call from 8:30-4:30 p.m. If the clinical staff is unavailable to take your call you may leave a message with the receptionist or ask to be transferred to their voice mail to leave a detailed or confidential message. Your calls will be returned promptly as voice mail is checked every hour. In the case of emergency the clinical staff and physician are available to take your call. Please inform the receptionist you are calling with an emergency.

We suggest calling our office after hours prior to going to the emergency room. You will connected directly to our phone service. Many calls can be handled by the provider on call, thus saving you the emergency room charges. Many insurance companies also require that you be directed to the emergency room by your physician before payment of those charges will be considered.

As family physicians our doctors strongly believe in the importance of family life. There will be times when another doctor will be covering calls for your doctor to allow them time with his or her family.
