Our founder, Ruth (Miller) Lorah started Lorah’s Candies in 1970 in Denver, Pa, after learning the chocolate business from her aunt and uncle, George and Effie Miller. Lorah’s Candies became well-known in Lancaster County and surrounding areas for fine handmade chocolates. Maria (Lorah) Harvey, Ruth’s niece, acquired the business in 2009, renaming it Lorah’sHandmade Chocolates, LLC. We continue making chocolates the traditional way with the highest quality ingredients and recipes that made Lorah’s chocolates well-known. Some of our recipes have been passed down through 4 generations. All of Ruth Lorah’s original recipes are being used, as well as several new ones. About Our Chocolates Our chocolates are completely handmade. Our centers are made from the freshest ingredients, cooked on our stove, worked on our marble table, and hand-rolled and formed on our antique cream cutter. Finally, the cream centers are hand-dipped in the finest quality American-style chocolate. Our chocolates can be found at various retailers throughout Berks and Lancaster Counties. Our chocolates are available for all your gift-giving needs, including weddings, showers, corporate gifts, fundraisers, and buffets for catered events. We can also create a custom mold of your business card and custom assorted boxed chocolates. We offer dark and milk chocolate for all pieces and white confectionary coating on select pieces
