About Us

  • I couldn’t start off telling you about me without sharing one of my favorite sayings. “The service you give is the rent you pay for being on the planet.” My wife Terry and I believe this to the core of our souls. That’s why we are both in the field of healthcare which allows us to help people and spend a large portion of our free time in doing community service. Having met my wife in Rotary International over 27 years ago, our relationship was built on community service and helping people. We continue to live that path on a daily basis. Currently the majority of our efforts go the Dana Point 5th Marine Support Group. We love our warriors and want to support them in any way we can and being involved with this organization is the perfect avenue for the person who wants to support the men and women in our military. I found myself drawn to chiropractic in a most interesting way. I always wanted to be a Marine Biologist but after two years of study and the fact that I get sea sick almost every time I go out on the ocean, I looked in another direction. I had been taking all the pre-requisites for my biology major and then one day I got talking to one of my teammates on the football team I was playing. I asked. What are you going to do with your life? He began to tell me about chiropractic and what it was all about. I had never heard of it previously and quickly became very interested. I learned that as biology major, I was already taking most of the courses I needed to meet the requirements to be accepted at the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa. I completed my undergraduate studies at San Diego State University and was soon thereafter off to Davenport Iowa. While at Palmer College, I completed the four year curriculum in three years receiving my doctorate in 1981. When I first meet a new patient in my office, I frequently tell the story of the three day old infant that was born with one eye that didn’t open up and the baby also had a huge rash over her forehead. The hospital staff said that it would probably go away in time and it would eventually take care of itself. The doctors said to just wait and see. Well, I waited and waited and waited and after three days I decided to check this infant’s spine. It is well known that going through the birth canal is the singular most stimulating event your nervous system will ever go through excluding trauma. I questioned whether this tiny infant had nerve interference going on with her spine. As I palpated that tiny body I found that her Atlas (top vertebra of the spine) was out of alignment. If so, this was more than likely caused by the torsion and pull on the head and shoulders while exiting the birth canal. I gently cradled that tiny head into my palm, applied pressure at the involved area and “Voila!” There was a tiny click and I knew the Atlas had gone back into the place as it was meant to be. The result? It wasn’t even five minutes before her eye opened up and her rash totally disappeared. Now when telling this story to my patients I ask. Do you think I was treating a closed eye or a rash on the forehead? Of course not. I was treating what we call a vertebral subluxation and that was what was causing nerve interference in this child’s neck. Once the nerve interference was removed, the body was able to take care of itself and that is exactly what happened. Did I mention that this child was my daughter? From that day on I was no longer just a chiropractor who deals with back and neck pain. I know that the power that made the body heals the body. We just need to get out of the way. I look at my patients as a whole. Not just the body part that hurts and which they probably came to see me for. I look at their overall health as it relates to their nervous system. You see, there is no other profession that is skilled, trained and able to determine if your condition is due to nerve interference other than a chiropractor. It’s exciting to go to work and watch people get better when all hope was lost. I love being a Chiropractor!
