Both his grandfather and his father was in the construction business building residential homes. He also had two uncles and numerous cousins in the same trade. Mike worked summers with the family learning the trade himself. When he got out of college in 2003, he entered the family business full time. In late 2004, Mike moved to Raleigh and started his own company .Mike's Interior Trim, LLC. He sub-contracted to large developers installing trim and other custom work. He also built decks and porches. In 2013 Mike joined Allen Kelly & Company doing maintenance and repair for the Postal Service. He worked on post offices in both North and South Carolina. When Allen Kelly and Company cancelled the contract with the Postal Service in 2015, Mike took the opportunity to go back to what he enjoyed most. In late 2015, with the help of his wife Kim, he started KGS Builders LLC. While Mike takes care of the physical side of the business, Kim oversees the finances, advertising and appointments.
