About Us

  • As a neurosurgeon specializing in spine disorders, Dr. Das has been alleviating patient fears for more than a quarter of a century. He went into neurosurgery because he wanted to make an impact. “I fell in love with surgery because I get to save people’s lives or take away their pain,” says Dr. Das. “The complexities of being a surgeon is challenging and I enjoy that.” His practice focuses on complex spine degenerative scoliosis, spinal stenosis, herniated discs and spinal tumors. The latest techniques are used including minimally invasive and non-fusion and motion preservation technologies such as total disc replacement when appropriate. Dr. Das is available for patients who have undergone recent trauma due to motor vehicle or work accidents. Dr. Das began his journey in 1989 at the State University of New York at Stony Brook where he completed his undergraduate degree in biochemistry. He went on to attend medical school at the State University of New York in Brooklyn (Downstate) where he graduated cum laude in 1993 and was a member of AOA honor society. Dr. Das trained as a general surgery intern and neurosurgery resident at New York Medical College in Valhalla, then completed a Spine Fellowship at the Barrow Neurologic Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2000, he returned to New York to join the faculty at New York Medical College where he now holds a faculty appointment as an Associate Professor. In 2003, Dr. Das became board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, and in 2015 he joined Brain and Spine Surgeons of New York. In addition, Dr. Das is Chief of Neurosurgery at White Plains Hospital, Spine Section Chief at Westchester Medical Center, and an active member of numerous professional organizations, including CNS, AANS, and the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Disorders of the Spine.
