About Us

  • Originally from Denmark, Karin grew up in Edmonton, Alberta and raised her own, seven, children in Jackson, Mississippi. She relocated to Grand Junction, Colorado in 2017.  Karin graduated with a nursing degree from the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. Upon graduation, it was her dream to become a labor and delivery nurse. This dream was actualized after 10 years of service in related areas of nursing. As a labor and delivery nurse for more than 25 years, Karin connected with women during the labor process, but knew that in order to empower women and support their right to make informed choices, she needed to connect with them prior to their labor experience. This realization led her on the journey to becoming a midwife. Karin earned a bachelor's in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2013 and graduated from Frontier Nursing University with a Master's of Science in Nursing, with a focus on midwifery in 2016. Karin continued her medical education with a post graduate certificate in Women's Health and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Frontier Nursing University with a focus on perinatal mood disorders.Karin is passionate about listening to, partnering with and empowering women in their healthcare journey. Her goal is for each patient to feel heard, understood and unconditionally loved.“As midwives, we are the experts of normal, empowering and supporting women, as they navigate through the natural and physiological processes of pregnancy and childbirth: we do this through holistic, compassionate, and individualized care, informed choice, and comprehensive education.”When not working, Karin and her husband of almost 45 years, enjoy spending time with their one daughter, six sons, five grandsons and eight granddaughters! They can often be found backpacking, hiking, camping, reading, traveling or participating in church activities.
