About Us

  • Wiliam E. Babour, D.D.S. General Dentistry

Dr. Barbour was born in Rockland and he spent his early childhood here in Glen Cove. He graduated from Rockland High school in 1961, University of Maine at Orono in 1965 and Georgetown Dental School in 1970. He enlisted in the US Navy Dental Corps for 2 years before returning to Rockland to practice with Dr. Michael Dougherty. Upon completion of the building in 1974 where Glen Cove Dental now exists, they transferred their practice from Rockland to Glen Cove. Dr. Barbour married his high school sweetheart, Susan and they had 2 children, Beth and Jake. During his children?s school years he was a coach for pee-wee sports and active in the high school basketball boosters club. He was on the S.A.D. 5 school board for 4 years.

Both of their children were active in sports and they have fond memories of watching their games. Now they are busy following the activities of their 3 grandchildren, Cole, Thomas and Julia. During his 40 years as a dentist he has always studied new techniques and new materials. The majority of the materials that he uses everyday were different then what he used in dental school. He is an active member of the Casco Bay Study Club. He still loves his profession as well as his patients and he has no intention of retiring.

Deborah W. Endl, D.M.D. General Dentistry

Dr. Endl graduated from Yarmouth High School, and completed her undergraduate degree in dental hygiene at Westbrook College. After practicing as a dental hygienist for 3 years, Dr. Endl had the novel idea (at the time) of a woman going to dental school! She left Maine and attended the University of Pittsburgh, earning a B.S. degree (Magna Cum Laude) in 1974, then her D.M.D. degree in 1978. Upon graduation, she returned to Maine and joined the practice of Dougherty and Barbour as one of the first female dentists in the state.

Dr. Endl strives to serve her community through her active participation at the First Congregational Church of Camden, where she has served on many committees and as president. She also shares her time and talent by treating patients through Donated Dental Services and the Knox County Health Clinic.

Dr. Endl and her husband Ed live in Camden, where they raised their two daughters. Another important dimension of their lives has been international travel and cultural exchange. In fact, "once upon a time", she and Ed traveled Europe for a year on a BSA motorcycle! In more recent times they have been host parents for three wonderful exchange students.

Michael B. Hersom, D.M.D. General Dentistry

Dr. Hersom was born and raised in Sanford, Maine. He graduated from Boston College in 1989 with a B.S. degree in Biology. While at BC, he was a 4 year member of the varsity track and cross country teams, and was co-captain of the 1988 Men's Cross Country Team. Dr. Hersom received his training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and graduated Magna Cum Laude from there in 1993. Upon graduation, Dr. Hersom entered the U.S. Air Force, where he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Following completion of his military commitment in 1996, Dr. Hersom and his family returned to Maine and he joined the practice of Dougherty, Barbour, Endl, and Pier; what is today Glen Cove Dental Associates.

Dr. Hersom believes in an ethic of service. His many areas of volunteerism, from Rotary to Little League to the Maine Dental Association Executive Board are all focused on serving his community and his profession. Dr. Hersom was instrumental in helping to develop a low income dental program affiliated with the Knox County Health Clinic.
