Attorney Gitlen graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelors Degree in Biology, received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Hartford, then pursued a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration at New York University. Richard Gitlen earned his Juris Doctorate of Law at Quinnipiac University. He practiced for five years as an FRLS Legal Aid Consultant/Safe Space for Battered Women and then moved on to work as a Martin County Special County Attorney for five years. Gitlen is an active member of the Alzheimer's Advocacy Association of Treasure Coast, the Florida Cycling Association, and is a Court Appointed Trial Lawyer for Abused Children (Hibicus Center for Abused Children). He also hosts a weekly radio show on WSTU in Stuart on legal issues, is a speaker on domestic violence in judicial conference, and is the President Elect of St. Lucie County Bar.
