About Us

  • Garth Turner, MD, board certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology, and electrodiagnostic medicine, has been a member of Summit Health's neurology department since 2012. Dr. Turner focuses on evaluation and management of peripheral nerve and muscle disorders, including nerve and nerve root impingement syndromes, inherited and acquired neuropathies, myopathies, and neuromuscular junction disorders. He currently practices at our Neuroscience Center in Florham Park.

    Dr. Turner completed his undergraduate degree in Linguistics at the State University of New York at Albany, graduating summa cum laude. He was the first recipient of the department's Francine W. Frank Linguistics award for academic achievement and was elected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society in 2000. Following graduation, Dr. Turner spent two years as a research assistant at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston before attending NYU School of medicine. He also served as Chief Resident during his final year of residency. Dr. Turner stayed on at NYU to complete a one-year fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at NYU-Langone/Tisch Hospital and Hospital for Joint Diseases (now NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital).

    He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM). Dr. Turner is an expert in performance and interpretation of nerve conduction studies and electromyography (EMG). His electrodiagnostic laboratory is accredited with exemplary status by the AANEM.
