  • Sharon Norling, MD, MBA, is a passionate physician and leader in the field of functional medicine with over 40 years of experience. She leads a team of health care professionals at Functional + Integrative Medicine: Dr. Sharon Norling, located in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Dr. Norling is an international speaker, author, and business leader, and is nationally board-certified in OB/GYN, integrative medicine, and medical acupuncture. She is a highly skilled and trained physician who specializes in finding and treating the root cause of symptoms and disease using traditional and alternative medicine.  Dr. Norling graduated from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland in 1979, and completed medical training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. She received further training in London and Germany, where she added to her extensive knowledge in her field of expertise.  Since beginning her career in health care, Dr. Norling has been a nurse, medical doctor, hospital administrator, researcher, and patient advocate. She has been a valuable part of the faculty at Minnesota Medical School in Duluth, Minnesota, and held roles in management for two large health care organizations. Dr. Norling’s roles in corporate health care organizations have brought her into direct contact with all levels of business, government, and health care. She has testified before the White House Commission on Complementary Alternative Medicine Policy. She authored a book, entitled “Your Doctor is Wrong,” co-authored a textbook on integrative medicine, has written for numerous professional publications, and plans to release another book in the future. As an international speaker, she is engaging, articulate, humorous, and insightful. She speaks on a wide range of current health topics, including corporate health. Before beginning her private practice in North Carolina, she started the acclaimed Mind Body Spirit Center in Westlake Village, California. Through the course of her extensive, dynamic career, Dr. Norling has nurtured her affinity for patients who have been dismissed and misdiagnosed, which drives her passion for holistic, integrated care for every man and woman in her care. As the founder of Functional + Integrative Medicine, Dr. Norling strives to offer every patient comprehensive and compassionate health care that treats the whole person and not just their symptoms.
