Darryl A. Auston, MD, PhD, joins the Hughston organization as a board eligible orthopaedic trauma surgeon at Orange Park Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Auston received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and cell biology from the University of California, San Diego. He received both MD and PhD degrees from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He went on to complete his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He completed his orthopaedic trauma fellowship at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, FL. Dr. Auston was previously an attending physician in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Syracuse, NY, while also serving as a clinical instructor of orthopaedic surgery at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. He specializes in acute fracture care with special interest in pelvis, acetabulum, and complex joint injuries. Dr. Auston is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and the Orthopaedic Research Society. A list of his publications can be found here.
