About Us

  • In 1962, the company started as a simple commercial printing company for a private school. Wally Colson purchased the company and in his first act as new owner and president, moved it to Valdosta, Georgia. In 1969, Colson purchased a larger printing company and took over their location, merging the two businesses. This gave Colson Printing Company additional equipment, a better location and a larger customer base. The company soon became the proud owners of their first large press, an 18"x24" Solna single color and a large Stahl folder. In 1973, growing yet again, a prime corner lot in Valdosta was bought and a 5,000 square foot building erected. A 20"x29" Heidelberg was purchased followed several years later by a new two color 25"x36" Heidelberg press. At this time, Colson Printing Company also installed an automatic letter press and die-cutting equipment. In 1983, Wendy Colson, the owner's son, began working at the company in the sales department. Recognizing a need for fine art printing in the Southeast, Wendy started printing for artists and publishers. Colson Art Printing now contributes a respectable portion of sales. In 1989, another local competitor was acquired, again increasing equipment and accounts. Several years later, the pre-press department was upgraded with the newest Mac and PC image setting equipment as well as an automatic film processor. Today the company has grown to a modern printing and direct mail facility. Our presses range from Heidelberg 28x40 Speedmaster to Xerox Digital presses, Bobst 28x40 die cutter and Epson 60" Large Format printers.
