About Us

  • Orthopedics deals with bone, joints, ligaments, muscles, and peripheral nerves. Orthopedics is a word derived from 2 Greek words: Orthos means straight, and paedios meaning a child. Nicolas Andry coined the term in his textbook for the use of exercise, manipulation, and splinting of limbs to treat deformities in children. In the past Orthopedics meant to keep the body straight, usually of the spine. However, this concept is now wide and Orthopedic surgery means to preserve and maintain mobility of the human body in the best way possible. This is achieved by prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and injuries, with or without surgery, in all age groups. Orthopedic surgery is usually performed by a team. The team is led by an Orthopedic surgeon, and the team consists of an Anesthesiologist, assistant surgeons, scrub nurses, and an experienced intra-operative radiographer. The operation theatre for performing the surgeries is well lit and well-equipped with intraoperative fluoroscopy (X-ray), lead aprons, drill machines, necessary basic surgical instruments, and even microscopes or endoscopes as the surgery demands.
